Tom Ince could land back in the Championship next season to be reunited with his old Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner.

The former £10million Stoke City forward, aged 31, could be on the move this summer with reports that Reading’s relegation to League One has triggered a £50,000 release clause.

He apparently has interest in the Championship and Sky Sports claim that includes Norwich City, where Wagner took over mid-way through the season just finished.

Ince has previously said of his time under Wagner: “The way he played suited me, I felt. It is not similar but along the same lines as how Steve McClaren played, that expansive attacking football, wanting his forward players to have freedom to play and that’s what suits me down to the ground. Not only that but his desire and passion to continue his style and his ideas at the top level.”

Norwich have already been active in the transfer market after a 13th place finish and sporting director Stuart Webber is coming under increasing pressure.

Striker Ashley Barnes has joined as a free agent from Burnley while right-back Jack Stacey moves after coming to the end of his contract at Bournemouth. They are also hoping to get a deal over the line for 31-year-old Shane Duffy, who had a brief spell with Fulham after leaving Brighton.
