England’s Tom Curran has been slammed for his conduct after he received a four-game ban for intimidating an umpire.
Curran, who plays for Australian club Sydney Sixers, became involved in a disagreement with an umpire while going through a series of warm up drills ahead of the Big Bash League match against Hobart Hurricanes on December 11.

An investigation by Cricket Australia found that a disagreement with the umpire occurred while the 28-year-old was going through his pre-match run-up.
The official asked Curran not to run on the match surface and stood next to the stumps to prevent him doing so after the England star continued to defy orders.
Australian broadcaster Channel 7 posted footage of the incident on social media platform, X which showed the umpire telling Curran to not to use the surface to warm up and Curran running towards him before both men moved apart to avoid a collision.
Currans actions breached clause 2.17 of the CA code which covers ‘intimidation or attempted intimidation of an umpire or match referee,’ leading to four penalty points and a four-game ban.
Head of the Sixers Rachael Haynes confirmed the club would appeal the ruling while providing support for Curran.
A statement by Haynes read: “Tom and the club maintain that Tom did not knowingly or intentionally intimidate a match official and, on legal advice, we will exercise our right to appeal the decision.
“We will support Tom during this period and look forward to him returning to the field.”
Meanwhile, both Curran and the Sixers have both come under fire for what has been described as ‘shameful’ behaviour .

Cricket journalist Anuj Prabhu said: “For an international cricketer to do this is shameful and insane.
“I wish RCB could cancel Tom Curran’s contract. Intimidating the umpire despite two warnings is showing disrespect to the game.
“They want to appeal against the ban? All the best.”
