Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers thankfully gave us exactly what we wanted

Just a few days ago I wrote in this very Morning Win space that we needed to root for two things to happen over the weekend – the Packers to beat the Rams and the Bucs to beat the Saints.

And you know? Both of those things happened!

Now we get the very good stuff as Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will host Tom Brady and the Bucs in the NFC Championship Game this coming Sunday at what should be a frigid Lambeau Field.

I mean, how beautiful is that?

For years we’ve wanted to see Rodgers vs. Brady in the postseason and now we finally have it and I, as a football fan, couldn’t be more excited to see this storyline finally play out in real life.

The Packers took care of business first by beating the Rams at home on Saturday. Rodgers, who will likely be the MVP this season, was his usual magical self and proved to be way too much for a banged up Rams defense to handle.

Brady then did his thing on Sunday as he led the Bucs to a 30-20 win inside the Superdome. Was Brady at his very best? No, not really. But he did finish with 199 yards and two TDs and he also rushed for a TD… but then got denied a high-five from a ref.

Now the 43-year-old GOAT travels to Green Bay to try to make even more NFL history – a win will make him the first QB to ever lead his team to a home Super Bowl.

Rodgers, meanwhile, is trying to get to his first Super Bowl since 2010. He’s played in three NFC title games since then, only to come up short and he just can’t suffer a fourth loss. Can’t happen.

The two QBs have squared off just three times in their great careers. Brady holds a 2-1 lead and his teams have scored an average of 30 points in those games.

This is all different, of course, as Brady is with a new franchise and in a new conference. But it all feels very much the same as Brady is in a conference championship game for a 14th time in his career.

Rodgers vs. Brady. A snowy Lambeau Field in late January. A trip to the Super Bowl on the line.

Yeah, this should be fun.

–  Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was knocked out of Sunday’s win after suffering a concussion. He and Browns LB Mack Wilson later had a classy exchange about the play on social media.

– Speaking of Mahomes, he fired the ball high into the stands after scoring at TD. This video from a fan shows just how far the ball went.

– Deshaun Watson is not happy with the Texans and on Sunday he shared a photo of himself wearing a Falcons jacket.

– Johnny Manziel seemed to enjoy the Browns’ loss to the Chiefs.

– Tony Romo lost his mind over the Chiefs’ game-sealing play.
