Hey, hope you’re having a good week! I’m off to see Phoebe Bridgers tonight and I’m very much looking forward to it. Before that, though, there’s another game of Heardle to play. As ever, I’ve got some clues and the answers if you happen to find today’s song a tricky one.

If you’re a Heardle newbie, here’s how to play: You will hear the first second of a reasonably well-known song. You’ll then take a guess at the artist and title or skip your turn. If you skip or guess incorrectly, you’ll get to hear a little more of the song. The game continues until the sixth and final guess, at which point you’ll hear 16 seconds of the track.

If you’ve been too busy going to concerts (or, you know, living your life) to play Heardle over the last few days, here are the songs you may have missed:

If today’s Heardle musical intro has you feeling perplexed, here are some clues that may help:

  • This is listed as an indie rock song on Wikipedia.
  • It was released in the U.S. in 2009.
  • Even though this didn’t chart on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, it racked up more than a million certified units/sales in the country. It reached number six in the U.K.
  • This song featured on the soundtrack of the movie 500 Days of Summer.
  • There are some lyrics worth paying attention to in the opening seconds.
  • Spoiler warning. This is your last chance to look away before I reveal the answer, but if you have given up…

    Heardle answer for June 8

    Heardle

It’s “Sweet Disposition” by The Temper Trap!

Happy to have a first-time guess for the first time in a few days. The guitar tone and opening notes are unmistakable. If all else fails, you’ll hear the title being sung within the first 11 seconds or so. This is often referred to as an indie anthem and it’s a pretty good song! You can hear it in full here:

That’s all for today’s game. If you struggle with Thursday’s Heardle, check out my my blog for some clues and the answer.
