Titans take Eric Stokes in Mike Tannenbaum’s mock draft

Former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum has posted his own mock draft for ESPN, and in it he has the Tennessee Titans taking a player who hasn’t been mocked to them all offseason.

That player is Georgia cornerback Eric Stokes, a prospect who could go anywhere in the latter half of the first round.

Here’s what Tannebaum he had to say about the pick:

Out go Malcolm Butler and Adoree’ Jackson, in come Janoris Jenkins and Stokes. The Titans will love Stokes’ elite speed, versatility and ball skills. Kentucky’s Kelvin Joseph was an option for me, too, and an edge rusher or tackle would have been justifiable. But ultimately, I want a shutdown corner in Tennessee’s contention window.

One thing to know: Stokes allowed the second-lowest completion percentage (18.2%) and Total QBR (1.3) in press coverage in the FBS last season (min. 75 press coverage snaps).

Until now, South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn and Northwestern’s Greg Newsome II have been the cornerbacks mocked to the Titans in the first round.

Stokes has as good a chance as any to go to the Titans at No. 22 overall, as cornerback remains one of the team’s biggest needs going into the 2021 NFL draft, along with offensive tackle and wide receiver.

Stokes projects to be an outside corner at the next level and offers great size (6-foot, 194 pounds) and speed, but he could also provide versatility as a slot corner in his first season, an area where the Titans are currently lacking.
