Titans open the week as home underdogs to Falcons

Following their much-needed bye in Week 7, the Tennessee Titans finally had some time to rest their bodies and get their minds right for the back half of the 2023 season.

This week, the Titans are slated to face an Atlanta Falcons team that is not only in first place in the NFC South at the moment, but also has several familiar faces on both the roster and coaching staff.

The most notable among them is former offensive coordinator and current Falcons head coach, Arthur Smith, and tight ends Jonnu Smith and MyCole Pruitt, and outside linebacker Bud Dupree.

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will also get to reunite with his son, Tyler, who is a member of the Falcons’ practice squad.

The Falcons enter the Week 8 showdown with a 4-3 record, while the Titans sit at 2-4 with hopes of turning their season around sooner rather than later.

To do so, Tennessee will have to win a crucial game as a home underdog, which is something the team has done twice this season.

Atlanta is opening the week as a one-point favorite over Tennessee, with the over/under at 37.5 points, per BetMGM. According to Team Rankings, the Titans are currently 3-3 against the spread while the are Falcons 2-5.

Part of the reason Tennessee is a home dog likely has to do with the status of quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who is reportedly unlikely to play in Week 8.

It remains to be seen who will start in his place, though, whether that be Will Levis or Malik Willis. Either way, the Titans figure to be downgraded under center for their game against the Falcons.
