Tim Tebow announced on Wednesday that he has retired from professional baseball after spending four seasons in the New York Mets’ farm system.

While Tebow never made it to the big leagues what he accomplished during his baseball career was pretty darn impressive considering he hadn’t played in years and had a ton of pressure on him pretty much every time he stepped on the field.

Tebow hit a home run in his first game in the instructional league back in 2016 and later hit a home run in his first at-bat with the Columbia Fireflies. In 2019, Tebow’s final season, he played in 77 games at AAA Syracuse.

Tebow had this to say in the team’s release:

“I want to thank the Mets, Mr. Alderson, the fans and all my teammates for the chance to be a part of such a great organization. I loved every minute of the journey, but at this time I feel called in other directions. I never want to be partially in on anything. I always want to be 100 percent in on whatever I choose. Thank you again for everyone’s support of this awesome journey in baseball, I’ll always cherish my time as a Met. #LGM”

After the news broke many fans shared this inspiring video from spring training in 2019 in which Tebow explained why he was still going after his dream:

Yup, that’s still awesome. Congrats to Tebow for doing all he could to chase his baseball dream.
