This Morning fans were sent into meltdown when acting “icon” Jodie Foster appeared on the programme alongside her True Detective co-star Kali Reis.
Swarms of ITV viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment on the 61-year-old being interviewed by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, with many stunned to see the two-time Oscar winner on the magazine programme.
One fan penned, referencing the 1991 horror film The Silence of the Lambs: “Jodie will always be my Clarice #ThisMorning.”
Another added: “Not often we see acting royalty on #ThisMorning but @jodiefoster is in that category!”
Flo shared: “Jodie Foster! Icon! #ThisMorning.” Meanwhile, Deb added: “Ooh, this looks like a good drama; love Jodie Foster. #ThisMorning.”
Another shared: “Bl***y Hell, the actual Jodie Foster on the actual #ThisMorning sofa…”
“Just turned on and they have Jodie Foster on…fair play,” a shocked fan commented.
Another user shared: “Been hooked on True Detective: Night Country for the last few weeks! It is insanely good! Fair play to #ThisMorning for getting Jodie Foster on the actual show! She is a legend!”
Speaking about True Detective, Jodie shared of her character Liz Danvers’ relationship with Kali’s character Evangeline Navarro: “There’s not any friendship, they don’t like each other.
“There are all sorts of reasons why they don’t.” Dermot then asked whether they get to like each other on the programme, to which Jodie responded: “I don’t really know, it’s deeper than that.
“They have the same destiny and that is really what brings them together.”
Alison later congratulated the award-winning actress on being nominated for the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in Nyad at this year’s Academy Awards. It comes almost 30 years after she received the honour for her role in Nell.
“When I was a kid we’d all go to my mum’s room and go round a black and white TV and watch the Oscars,” Jodie explained as she admitted “it’s nice” to be nominated for accolades.
“It is this nostalgic thing to me and I never thought I’d be part of that community,” Jodie concluded.
This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITVX.
