The Talbott Tavern is a centuries-old establishment in the heart of Bardstown, Kentucky. Founded in 1779, it began as a stagecoach stop and evolved into a pub, restaurant and inn.
Many famous patrons have visited the tavern. Abraham Lincoln stayed at the inn when he was 5 years old. The outlaw Jesse James used to hide from the law in the basement. Rumors say his ghost still haunts the building.
The Talbott Tavern has seen much in its centuries of existence, including disaster. A fire broke out in March 1998, nearly destroying the historic building and putting its future in jeopardy.
