One moment in Liverpool’s FA Cup victory over Aston Villa summed up Thiago’s brilliance as a footballer.
The 29-year-old replaced Jordan Henderson at half-time in the Reds’ 4-1 win at Villa Park on Friday night, changing the game in the second half.
Liverpool were drawing 1-1 at the time, and performing poorly, but he looked superb in the middle of the park, dictating play and showcasing his talent.
After the game, many were full of praise for Thiago, with one supporter on Twitter (@scousantara) highlighting a subtle pass in the lead-up to Mohamed Salah’s goal:

It may not look anything special, but as the tweet alludes to, arguably none of Liverpool’s other midfielders would have taken such a risk on the ball.
Thiago has that ability to break the lines with his vision, catching out opponents and making all the difference in the final third.
This shouldn’t be a slight on the likes of Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum, who are outstanding in their own way, but the Spaniard is a truly world-class player who brings so much more creativity to the midfield.
He will be a huge player moving forward, as long as he can stay fit.
