Thiago outwits Rodri & De Bruyne with sublime footwork in Liverpool vs Man City

Thiago produced some brilliant footwork to outwit both Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri in the Community Shield on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool and Manchester City met for the first time in the 2022/23 season at the King Power Stadium, with Jurgen Klopp’s side running out 3-1 victors.
The Reds broke the deadlock through Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The 23-year-old was teed up on the edge of the box and his curling effort took a slight deflection off Nathan Ake and found the back of the net.
Shortly before half-time, Thiago had Liverpool fans on their feet with some brilliant footwork to evade pressure from Rodri and De Bruyne.
Rodri thought he had the better of Thiago when he forced his opponent towards the touchline.

But, despite coming close to losing his balance, the former Bayern Munich midfielder showed some impressive control and strength to shrug off his international teammate.
De Bruyne then attempted to take the ball from Thiago but was turned away from with ease.
Rodri then had another go at dispossessing Thiago but the Liverpool man was too quick and skilful again as he clipped the ball past his opponent to Virgil van Dijk.

What a majestic footballer Thiago is.
Rodri and De Bruyne are two of the best midfielders in the world but Thiago beat them with ease.
You’ve got to admire the former’s commitment to try and take the ball off Thiago but he got outwitted not once, but twice.

There were no further goals as Liverpool held a one-goal lead at the half-time interval.
City restored parity with 20 minutes of the match remaining.
Adrian saved from Phil Foden but Julian Alvarez was quickest to the loose ball and poked home to make it 1-1.
City weren’t level for long, though, as Mohamed Salah gave his side the lead shortly after.
The Reds were given a penalty when Darwin Nunez’s header struck the hand of Ruben Dias inside City’s box. Salah stepped up and he made no mistake.
Nunez then headed home from close range in stoppage-time to ensure Liverpool’s victory.
