The WWE Network is heading to NBC’s Peacock

NBC is making major efforts to draw sports fans to its premium streaming service Peacock, and after news broke last week that the company would be shutting down NBCSN – a move that will result in more live sports offerings being available only on Peacock – WWE announced on Monday that Peacock will become the exclusive home of the WWE Network on March 18th.

WWE Network has around 1.5 million subscribers, so the move will result in a significant influx of new Peacock subscribers for NBC, and also allow WWE fans to save on their monthly bill. WWE Network costs $9.99 per month, but the WWE Network library will be available for Peacock’s $4.99 per month tier, which does include ads.

The timing of the switch is also notable – WWE Network will switch to Peacock just three days before WWE Fastlane, and three weeks before WrestleMania, the biggest WWE event of the year.

According to the Wall Street Journal, WWE’s deal with NBC will run for five years, and will earn WWE more than $1 billion.
