The Traitors sent viewers into yet another spin when Wilfred Webster appeared to put the wheels in motion on a shock plan to betray fellow killer Amanda Lovett.

In the very first episode, the pair were secretly recruited as Traitors, alongside Alyssa Chan, and have been fairly successful in picking off their surrounding Faithfuls.

So far, Amanda has managed to play the game undetected, becoming a firm favourite among her co-stars and viewers at home.

However, after a very tense episode, suspicions were stoked between the remaining cast, as they questioned her decision to vote Theo off – despite naming him as her most trusted friend in the castle the previous night.

At the very end of the installment, Wilf threw us all for a loop when suggested that he would be considering a plot to get his fellow Traitor axed for good.

After the duo had decided on the latest Faithful to kill, he told her: ’Like I said from the very beginning, my whole strategy is befriend and betray.’

Speaking to the camera, he cryptically continued: ‘Amanda, she’s probably seen what I’ve seen, me betray people..

‘It doesn’t seem like this has been as hard for her as it has for me, which makes me nervous as well.

‘Maybe I should start strategizing a plan to get rid of her if I need to.’

Wilf seemed to waste absolutely no time and the teaser for the next episode showed him laying the foundation for the shock betrayal.

‘I’m not sure about Amanda…,’ he told his casemates. before Amanda later defended herself at a tense roundtable.

But will anyone believe her?

Unsurprisingly, fans were left raging by the scenes and flocked to Twitter to have their say, convinced that Amanda doesn’t have long left in the game

‘Oooh! Amanda might have made a bit of a boo boo there,’ a follower wrote. ‘Her 100% last night and now she’s voting.

‘Think she’ll get looked at now and Wilf will jump on like a good un #TheTraitors.’

‘I can’t believe Wilf has turned this around,’ another agreed. ‘He sees he’s protected now so he’ll get rid of Amanda for sure to bag all the money #TheTraitors.’

‘Amanda needs to get Wilf out now before he screws her over. #thetraitors #Amanda,’ a Twitter user urged.

‘Wilf is going to betray Amanda next time isn’t he? #TheTraitors,’ one predicted.

As a follower added: ‘The more I watch the closer I can feel I’m getting to seeing Wilf throw Amanda under a double decker  #TheTraitors.’

Viewers will know that throwing Traitors under the bus is something Wilf is comfortable with, as he previously accused Alyssa in front of her casemates – which led to her exit.

Amanda then warned him not to cross her, in one of the most iconic TV scenes to air this year – but we will have to wait to see whether he listened.

The Traitors airs on Tuesday – Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
