The trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s highly anticipated Netflix documentary dropped on Wednesday, and with it revealed several sweet, never-seen-before photographs of the couple throughout their relationship.
The teaser trailer begins with a voice from behind the camera asking, “Why did you want to make this documentary?” whilst a series of black and white snaps flash across the screen, many of them private images from the royal couple’s life behind the scenes.
The documentary, entitled Harry & Meghan, has been billed as a fly-on-the-wall look at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship, which Netflix has said is a “love story like no other”.

The unprecedented six-part documentary series will be filled with private insights into the couple’s life behind closed doors, spanning their relationship “from the early days of the couple’s courtship to the challenges and controversies that prompted them to step back from the Royal Family”.
The series will also include interviews with family and friends who’ve never spoken publicly about the couple’s relationship before – as well as historians and journalists who dissect how the media influenced Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the Royal Family and the Commonwealth at large, as per Netflix.

Netflix says the show is “coming soon”, though it has been reported it could air on December 8, but fans have already got an insight into their love story from the few brief snaps shared in the documentary’s trailer.
Story continues
The black-and-white snaps are clearly from their own private photo albums, taken on holiday or in their own garden or kitchen, although one professional-looking image seems to show the royal couple dancing away at their wedding reception, with Meghan in her Stella McCartney after-party dress.

Other pictures show the couple in a photo booth, sharing a private moment as Harry wears a baker boy hat and sunglasses in one snap, and enthusiastically kisses Meghan on the cheek in another, whilst several others show the pair on holiday in what looks to be parts of Africa, where Harry does a lot of charity work.

The intimate images capture several quiet, private moments, too. One showed the pair in their kitchen both in formalwear – Harry in a tux with his bow tie undone, and Meghan sat up on the counter in a gown with bare feet – a time that appears to be after the Mountbatten Music Festival in 2020, one of their last formal events as working members of the Royal Family.
Elsewhere, two pics look like they were taken in the Sussexes’ back garden, one with their family dog, and others are quick selfies of the couple with cheeky grins and poses, proving that when it comes to capturing memories of their life together, Harry and Meghan really aren’t that different to us.

The couple has previously stayed tight-lipped about the documentary, as have Netflix themselves, but if the documentary trailer is anything to go by, fans could expect more of an intimate insight into the Sussex family’s personal lives than previously thought.
“No one sees what’s happening behind closed doors,” Harry replies to the initial question in the trailer. “I had to do everything I could to protect my family.”

The couple signed a multi-year deal with the streaming giant after moving to California in September of 2020, shortly after launching their own multi-platform media company, Archewell, which also produces Meghan’s podcast.
Since they emigrated to the US, the couple have been honest about trying to tell their story from their own point of view, as demonstrated in the bombshell January 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“When the stakes are this high,” Meghan adds in the trailer, “doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”
