The top Christmas song playing on Illinois radios this holiday season

From grocery stores to malls, holiday shoppers are starting to hear their favorite Christmas songs in the air wherever they go.
As radio stations switch their programming to Christmas music and Spotify and Apple Music notify users’ of which artists they listened to the most in 2022, Verizon ranked the most popular holiday song in each U.S. state.
The internet, phone and television services provider looked at the most played Christmas songs on holiday radio, according to iHeartMedia and Spotify, and analyzed Google search volume by state for each song to determine each state’s top one.
According to Verizon, Mariah Carey’s holiday hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is the most searched Christmas song in the entire country, with 11 out of 50 states Googling it more than any other song. However, according to Google Trends, Ariana Grande’s Christmas ballad “Santa Tell Me” is being searched more across the nation than Mariah Carey’s classic.
In Illinois, “Santa Baby” is the most popular Christmas song this year, the report said. It’s also the top song in New Mexico.
Across America, “Frosty the Snowman” is the second most popular Christmas song with six states, followed by “Jingle Bells” with five states.
Nine songs tied for the least popular Christmas song in the U.S. with one state each, including “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
