Jonny Evans has returned to Manchester United in a shock turn of events as the former Leicester centre-back agreed a short-term deal at his old stomping ground and has been re-united with his wife in the process.
Old Trafford has seen it’s fair share of power couples during their trophy-laden history, Law and Best, Yorke and Cole, Ronaldo and Rooney, but Evans and Evans is the latest returning partnership at Carrington.
The Northern Irishman will join United on their pre-season friendly against Lyon in Scotland before linking up with the club’s academy team in San Diego while he considers his options as a free agent.
Evans starred for United between 2008 and 2015, making 198 first-team appearances and winning the Premier League and FA Cup among other honours, but his greatest achievement may have been capturing the heart of Helen McConnell, now Mrs Evans.
The blonde-haired football fan first established a career back in her homeland as a model and found fame in the stylish industry.

She was snapped up by Belfast model agency Style Academy and even appeared as a Sunday Life Covergirl finalist in 2004 before moving to Manchester.
The 35-year-old also hails from Northern Ireland and first locked eyes with her now-husband after landing a role at United’s in-house television station MUTV.
A first stint in front of the camera saw her gain air time working as a freelance presenter covering Irish league games before the Premier League giants came calling.
Her passion for United combined with an upcoming status amongst the broadcasting industry eventually led to a role at the Red Devils and was soon rubbing shoulders with first-team members and staff.
The former Belfast Wellington College pupil had made it to Manchester and as work saw her interact with members of Sir Alex Ferguson’s squad, one fateful meeting saw her sitting in the company of Evans.
An interview with the centre-back in 2011 for MUTV kick-started a blossoming relationship that moved quick as the pair wed two years later.
A star-studded wedding saw McConnell and Evans marry back in Northern Ireland during a ceremony and reception at County Down with United stars of old in attendance as the duo tied the knot.
Evans was later shown the exit door at Old Trafford as a move to West Brom came about in 2015 and eventually joining Leicester three years later.

However, his wife stayed put and has continued to excel her role at United with the pair keeping their presence as they continued to live in their house within commuting distance of the club and the presenter maintaining her position.
The revolving door at United is constantly spinning and the presenter was on hand to welcome new star signing Mason Mount as he completed his £60m move from Chelsea at the start of July.
She is likely to be part of the media team working with the club on their pre-season tour of the States as United ramp up their preparations ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Lift shares might be on the cards now Evans is back at United after impressing first-team boss Erik ten Hag, but even if a permanent contract past pre-season doesn’t follow then at least one of the partnership will keep their place at the club.
