Channel 10 has been fighting a losing battle in the ratings against its commercial rivals throughout the year.
And on Thursday The Project took time out to poke fun at their own network’s poor performance and its seemingly low standing with the public.
Regular panellist Sam Taunton introduced a clip of a woman supposedly snubbing a Channel 10 reporter because ‘they weren’t from Channel Seven’.
Sharing the video to social media with the caption: ‘When you are a big fan of Channel Seven but end up on Channel 10,’ the woman, who is sitting behind the wheel of a car, appears to be confused when first approached by the reporter.
When the Channel 10 journalist asks them about the story they are covering, the woman interrupts and asks: ‘Is it [for] Channel Seven?’

But when the journalist reveals they are from 10, the woman simply says: ‘Oh’.
Sam, 30, could barely control his himself as he introduced the clip, which had The Project’s live audience laughing uproariously.
The Sydney-born comedian then decided to put the boot into the unknown woman:
‘Well, I mean, she’s not watching, so we can say whatever we want about her,’ he joked, before quickly adding: ‘Please watch us, we’re one of the best networks.’
Sam has developed a profile as a bit of prankster on 10’s struggling current affairs show.
Last month the quick-witted funnyman pranked the team live on air when pretended to have a sudden nose bleed.

It comes after a survey released in February revealed that The Project had lost a third of its national audience in 12 months.
The audience decline coincides with growing criticism of The Project’s left-wing bias and the recent departures of several high-profile hosts, including Carrie Bickmore, Peter Helliar and Lisa Wilkinson.
Meanwhile, Channel 10’s overall ratings have been struggling throughout 2023, following a similarly dismal performance last year.
The network regular audience share comes a distant third place to its commercial rivals Channel Seven and Channel Nine.
