Waleed #Waleed

The Project star Georgie Tunny has revealed how a mutual love of nerdy board games led to her establishing a close friendship with her ‘thoughtful’ co-host Waleed Aly.

Speaking on the I’ve Got News For You Podcast on Monday, Tunny, 31, had nothing but praise for Aly.

‘He is the most thoughtful person I have ever met,” she gushed to host Andrew Bucklow.

‘And I mean that in “yes he’s thoughtful and cares about you as a friend” but he’s thoughtful in every situation.

‘You can pose any kind of question, any type of story, and he will always see it from every side; he’s quite analytical like that.

‘He’s one of my good friends now and he’s also just a big kid at heart because how we actually came to be friends and bonded was over board games because we are such big nerds.

‘We love a board game, we love escape rooms, we’re those people’.

When Bucklow asked Tunny for her favourite Aly story, she recalled enjoying her Harry Potter themed escape room with her co-star on her 31st birthday in January.

‘My favourite recent one is going back to January of this year it was birthday and my partner had organised a Harry Potter escape room,’ she said.

‘I remember I mentioned it to Waleed and he said “Oh my God can I come?”

‘It was me, Waleed, Robert (her fiance Rob Mills), Nate Burns from the ABC, and my friend Donna who is a science reporter for The Guardian.

‘I don’t want to brag, but I just feel as a group we were put on this earth to play escape rooms and be that team together.

‘Waleed was there turning over bookshelves to try and figure out what on earth this meant so we could find a key to get out and we actually escaped the room in record time so I’m very proud of that.’

She will be ‘producing and reporting’ news stories, as well as hosting the panel show.

‘The Project’ is excited to announce that broadcaster Georgie Tunny is joining the show in a permanent role,’ A Ten spokesperson told news.com.au.
