The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey and partner DDG have welcomed their first child – a baby boy named Halo.

Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, Halle shared the sweet name they chose for their son along with a picture of her baby’s hand.

In the sweet photo, Bailey and rapper DDG’s hands can be seen holding on to the tiny hand of their newborn son who wears a gold nameplate bracelet.

The post also seemingly revealed that the couple, who kept the pregnancy quiet despite much speculation, welcomed their first child at the end of 2023.

“Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my Halo,” she captioned the post.

“The world is desperate to know you,” she concluded followed by a wink face emoji as a nod to the baby rumours that have appeared on her Instagram account for the last few months.

DDG also shared an announcement to his own Instagram account with a similar photo of the family of three holding hands, which he captioned: “My biggest blessing by far. Never been so in love… baby Halo.”

In an interview with Cosmopolitan last year, Bailey opened up about her partnership with DDG being her first adult relationship.

“Love has been a really big one for me too, because that’s something I’m experiencing for the first time, and it’s, like, ‘whoa’ in your brain. It’s just fireworks, a spark for creativity,” she said.

Asked if it was her first time being in love, she said: “You know, you have puppy love experiences, you think that’s love. But this is my first deep, deep, real love.”

The Little Mermaid live-action movie is streaming on Disney+.
