The Little Mermaid Trailer: Live-Action and Animated Side by Side Comparison
The Little Mermaid #TheLittleMermaid
Disney just revealed the first The Little Mermaid trailer for its upcoming live-action remake of the classic animated movie. Revealed at D23 2022, Disney shared the first teaser featuring the return of Ariel the mermaid, who will be played by Halle Bailey in the film. And we’ve got a side-by-side comparison of the live-action Little Mermaid and the classic Disney animation version.
The Little Mermaid live-action teaser shows off the ocean and a glimpse of Ariel in the shipwreck – just like in the animated movie – with a very short portion of the iconic song, “Part of Your World.” Watch the video to see how Halley Baily’s Ariel compares to the animated version of the beloved character, as well as how closely the live-action movie seems to be recreating certain scenes from the cartoon.
The Little Mermaid is one of several upcoming Disney live-action remakes, and stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy as the evil Ursula. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall is helming the project. There will also be four new original songs from the collaboration between Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda featured in the Little Mermaid film.
