The Lakers and the Hawks were battling in the fourth quarter Monday night when suddenly the game came to a stop and the refs had security deal with a few fans who were sitting in the front row and heckling LeBron James.

The fans were quickly ejected from the arena and one of the women in the group reportedly gave a double-bird salute to the court on her way out.

LeBron said afterward that he didn’t think they should have been ejected and that they might having a little too much fun. He was wrong, though. They deserved their ejection. He also tweeted after: “Courtside Karen was MAD MAD!!” which was great.

Here’s the thing – the NBA should do the right thing and ban these fans from ever coming to a game again.

If that sounds harsh to you, then you need to check out the videos of the fans. The double-bird woman had a lot of awful things to say from the hallway of the arena.

Then later, videos emerged from courtside that showed her saying she didn’t need to wear her mask because “we’ve all had COVID. This is (expletive) and you know it.”

Lakers coach Frank Vogel spoke the absolute truth after the game when he said: “You obviously can’t have fans taking their masks down and shouting at our players during these times.”

The Hawks having fans sitting courtside was totally news to me when I saw this incident. I know some teams are allowing some fans in but to see fans sitting on the court was pretty wild. And these fans don’t have to wear masks while being so close to the players? How is that possible? How are they sitting courtside!?

You’d think fans would be on their best behavior considering everything that’s going on right now with a GLOBAL PANDEMIC that has killed over 442,000 Americans. But that sadly wasn’t the case Monday night in Atlanta.

The NBA needs to step in and quickly make an example of these fans and ban them for life because what they did was dangerous and dumb and shouldn’t be treated lightly.
