The Dish: Mets announcer Colin Cosell emcees Stamford parade while Martha Stewart shops in Westport

Scene… New York Mets announcer Colin Cosell was seen hanging out with SKY Mercede, owner of Forever Sweet Bakery in Norwalk, at the 29th annual Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular on Nov. 20. Cosell, who served as master of ceremonies at the big balloon parade, is the grandson of the late iconic sportscaster Howard Cosell.  

On the small screen… Chef Brian Lewis, owner of the Cottage in Greenwich and in Westport, was featured on the “Today” show on Thursday morning, baking a Linzer tart with anchor and Westport resident Craig Melvin, who mentioned that the restaurant is a favorite of his and his wife, Lindsay. 

Out there… A Holiday Shopping Spree to benefit DART, the nonprofit Dana’s Angels Research Trust, takes place on Greenwich Avenue on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Splurge, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Veronica Beard, from noon to 2 p.m.; Shoes ‘N’ More, from 2 to 4 p.m.; Faherty, from 3 to 5 p.m.; and Vineyard Vines, from 4 to 6 p.m. Mention DART and 20 percent of your purchase will benefit DART, a nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for Niemann Pick Type C disease, a rare childhood disease often called childhood Alzheimer’s.

Scene… Westport resident and crooner Michael Bolton was dining at Gabriele’s of Westport on Powers Court as were ESPN “SportsNation” hosts Jordan and Shae Cornette.

Scene… Lifestyle guru Martha Stewart was seen in Westport on Nov. 24 at the “Giant Tent Sale” at Furniture on Consignment II owned by her friend Jim Klinko. In April, Klinko went to “The Great American Tag Sale with Martha Stewart” at her estate in Bedford, N.Y. 

Good news… L’escale restaurant at the Delamar Greenwich Harbor Hotel announced this week that it will remain open and operate under a new licensing agreement with The Delamar. Executive Chef Frederic Kieffer, and General Manager David Fletcher will stay put as well as the staff. This reversed its earlier announcement that the restaurant planned to close its doors. 

Out there… Abilis Gardens & Gifts is holding its annual Holiday Sip & Shop from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Abilis Gardens & Gifts at 50 Glenville St., Greenwich.
