Former President Donald Trump bashed the conservative nonprofit group Club for Growth after it excluded him from a donor event.

The conservative group revealed its guest list for a retreat next month in Florida, where it hopes to introduce major donors to potential 2024 presidential candidates, including former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former Vice President Mike Pence, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA), and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

The group’s president, David McIntosh, didn’t invite Trump, the only major candidate to announce he is running. The move angered the former president, causing him to lash out on Truth Social.

“The Club For NO Growth, an assemblage of political misfits, globalists, and losers, fought me incessantly and rather viciously during my presidential run in 2016. They said I couldn’t win, I did, and won even bigger in 2020, with millions of more votes than ‘16, but the Election was Rigged & Stollen (sic),” Trump wrote.

“They asked to get together on Endorsements of candidates, we did, and had MANY WINS & NO losses. Relationship broke up over my Endorsement of certain great people in Alabama & Ohio. I won them all!” he concluded.

After initially backing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in the 2016 presidential election, the club went on to back Trump in both elections and maintained friendly relations throughout his presidency. Relations began to sour once he left office, however, and apparently fractured over midterm races in Ohio and Alabama. Trump’s newest comments condemning the organization show a new low of relations between the two.

McIntosh said yesterday that having Trump as the Republican candidate in 2024 could harm their electoral chances. He said, “The party should be open to another candidate.”
