The Chase stars defend the show after viewer spots a ‘mistake’ in a question

Two of the Chasers have corrected a fan after spotting what they thought was a mistake on The Chase.

In an older episode that was repeated this week, one question went: “The main ingredients of the Scottish dish rumbledethumps are potato, onion and what else?”

The answer options were “cabbage”, “kippers” or “whiskey”, though one viewer took to social media to suggest that the latter had an erroneous “e” in its spelling.

Anne Hegerty (The Governess) was quick to respond, tweeting: “Our MD is Irish. They and the Americans spell it with an e!”

However, Jenny Ryan (The Vixen) went on to admit that there was more to it than meets the eye, with the spelling actually providing a clue.

“Not a spelling error, actually a clue to help the contestant get to the correct answer,” she wrote. “A Scottish dish wouldn’t use Irish whiskey.

“It’s only whisky (no E) if made in Scotland. e.g. Glenfiddich, Laphroaig = whisky Bushmills, Jameson’s = whiskEy.”

In other Chase news, Jenny recently unveiled a stunning new look as she shared her new lighter hair colour on social media.

“Summer = better natural selfie lighting,” the star wrote on her Instagram page.
