The Bureau Of Meteorology Gets Relentlessly Trolled By The Media Over Name Change
The Bureau #TheBureau
The Bureau of Meteorology is going for a glow-up and has sent a memo to Australian media that it wants to be called “the Bureau”.
In the memo sent to journalists, the Bureau said: “With an ever-increasing number of severe weather events. It is more crucial than ever that the Bureau of Meteorology’s insights, wisdom, data and information are shared, understood and acted upon.
“To support this need, the Bureau of Metrology asks that media outlets update editorial styles to ensure references to the organisation are by its full name or the Bureau for short, not BOM or Weather Bureau.”
Sadly, this reminds me of when I wanted to be called Mary Rose, because of Mary Kate Olsen instead of just Mary, and no one listened.
Just like Kanye West became Ye, and Puff Daddy became P.Diddy. The Bureau of Meteorology has become The Bureau (Well, technically, the internet seems to be enjoying ignoring its request)
However, their name debut didn’t go that well. The memo also announced that The Bureau would change its Twitter handles accordingly.
Cue Chaos!
Eagle-eyed Twitter users realised the Bureau had failed to snap up the new handles, and so naturally, they did instead.
The Bureau’s attempt to change its name has sent Twitter wild.
