The Bills just faced another scary medical situation in primetime

Nine months after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during a primetime game, the team faced another unsettling medical situation.
Bills running back Damien Harris went down late in the second quarter of the Bills’ Sunday night game against the New York Giants and had to be cared for by medical personnel for several minutes before being loaded into an ambulance and driven away.
Harris failed to get up after being tackled during a run. His teammates gathered around him on the field as the “Sunday Night Football” commentators recalled January’s trauma.
Hamlin, who similarly went down after being involved in a tackle, went into cardiac arrest on the field on Jan. 2. His teammates, along with members of the Cincinnati Bengals, prayed together as Hamlin was cared for by health care professionals.
The game was ultimately suspended after Hamlin was taken to the hospital, as the Deseret News reported at the time.
Hamlin recovered in the hospital and was medically cleared to return to NFL action.
He was inactive for Sunday night’s Bills-Giants game, but the NBC cameras showed him sitting on the bench with his head bowed as Harris was down on the field.
Harris was able to give the crowd a thumbs up before the ambulance took him away, according to the “Sunday Night Football” broadcast team.
“We have gotten word from the Bills. … It is a neck injury. (Harris) does have movement in his arms and his legs. He’s being driven right now to the hospital for further testing,” said reporter Melissa Stark a few minutes later.
