A Channel 4 programme investigating the international movement against coronavirus vaccinations has divided UK viewers watching tonight (Tuesday).

The Anti-Vax Conspiracy, a feature-length documentary, attempted to focus on the people it said were behind the international anti-Covid-vaccine movement – and explored why are.

The programme attempted to address the impact on global efforts to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic, and included interviews with leading experts on the anti-vaccination movement, and some of its leading proponents.

One such interviewee was Piers Corbyn, brother of the former Labour leader Jeremy, who has appeared at anti-lockdown rallies and been vocal about his position against the government’s coronavirus programme.

Another was Andrew Wakefield, a former doctor who was struck off the medical register after co-authoring a report claiming there was a link between autism and the combined jab for measles, mumps and rubella.

Viewers took to Twitter to discuss what they thought of the programme.

The issue of Covid vaccines was central to the programme, with Maz Gaming tweeting: “These people are petrified of someone somehow forcing them to get a vaccine. That’s not a thing, you absolutely have the right not to be vaccinated. Countries and businesses also have a right to not allow you in without a vaccination. It works both ways #theantivaxconspiracy “

Miss Candy was not impressed with some of the views expressed, tweeting: “This Anti-Vax documentary on Channel 4 is insane. Parents giving their autistic children bleach to drink because they think it’ll “cure” them.”

JD Hughes felt that the programme itself was not balanced, saying: ” #C4 still going on about Dr Andrew Wakefield… nothing more about the Covid ‘Anti-Vax Conspiracy’ the title of the programme.

“Poor journalism and blunt propaganda designed to silence any discussion about the #Covid vaccines being tested on human beings worldwide.”

George Odysseos added: “Essential viewing for anyone who questions the vaccines. The misinformation is scary and no surprise the ultimate motivations of those spreading the lies is money #theantivaxconspiracy “
