The nonprofit Sound Mind Live, which focuses on building a community and open dialogue around mental health through music, has detailed a partnership with indie rock band The Aces to help amplify the awareness of the 988 suicide/crisis lifeline and the importance of mental health. The partnership, which includes the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services (DBHIDS), the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Philadelphia, and Little Giant Creative will shape as a concert at Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia in part of The Aces I’ve Loved You For So Long tour.

During the gathering, which is set to take place on Oct. 13, audiences will have the chance to engage in a Mental Health Pledge Board, listen to experts from NAMI and DBHIDS detail information about the 988 lifeline, purchase custom merch highlighting The Aces with proceeds supporting local crisis infrastructure and of course enjoy the incredible music from The Aces. Additionally, fans will be able to provide input and feedback on the lifeline through a QR code with a chance to win prizes from the band.

“The need to build awareness around mental health has never been as crucial as it is right now, as a result of the pandemic,” said Chris Bullard, Founder and Executive Director of Sound Mind, in a press release. “We are thrilled to partner with The Aces and these other organizations to bring more awareness around the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline – this pioneering advocacy model can be replicated in tours and venues across the country.”

The overall initiative is part of Sound Mind’s broader Road to Recovery program, which creates visibility for community-based mental health resources in cities nationwide by partnering with touring artists. Road to Recovery previously toured with Indigo De Souza, Oxymorrons and serpentwithfeet, with more artist partnership announcements to come in 2024.

Tickets for The Aces’ performances are on sale now. Learn more and find additional event information here.
