Mason Mount is now officially a Manchester United player after completing his move from Chelsea.

Here are the five biggest moments in the 24-year-old’s career so far.

1️⃣ First professional goal

Mount came through the youth system at Chelsea, but his first taste of first-team football came at Vitesse in the Eredivisie, whom he joined on a season-long loan in the summer of 2017.

His first professional goal came in a 1-1 draw with Utrecht in October that year, and he went on to win the club’s Player of the Season award and was named in the Eredivisie Team of the Season, finishing with 14 goals in total.

The following year he impressed on loan at Derby County under Frank Lampard, scoring 11 goals in the Championship including a memorable hat-trick against Bolton.

As a boyhood Chelsea fan, Mount’s dreams came true when he made his senior competitive debut for the club under Lampard on the opening day of the 2019/20 season.

But while that match ended in a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Manchester United, the following weekend Mount scored his first senior Chelsea goal in a 1-1 draw with Leicester, before he found the net again in a win at Norwich a week later.

That season Mount became the first Chelsea academy graduate to make his first-team debut and complete 50 appearances in the same season, and he finished with nine goals for the club.

The 2019/20 season was an unforgettable year for Mount as not only did he break into Chelsea’s first-team, he also got senior international recognition for the first time.

Having been capped for England at every youth level, he got his first full cap in a Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria before bagging his first goal for the Three Lions against Kosovo in November 2019.

He has so far been capped 36 times for England – scoring five goals – and was part of the squads for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.

4️⃣ European champion

Mount’s career has so far yielded just one major trophy, but it happens to be the most major of them all.

His first European goal for Chelsea came against Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie in April 2021, which made him the club’s youngest ever scorer in a Champions League knockout fixture.

He then made his 100th appearance for the club in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie with Real Madrid, before scoring in the second leg to seal the Blues place in the final.

And then he assisted Kai Havertz in the final against Manchester City to score what proved to the Champions League-winning goal.

His performances that season earned him Chelsea’s Player of the Season – an award he also won in 2021/22.

5️⃣ Move to Manchester United

He may only be 24 but Mount has already amassed 314 senior games for club and country, scoring 63 goals along the way.

But after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign for Chelsea, he will now be looking to get his career back on track at his new club.

He will bring creativity and goal threat to Manchester United and is expected to play as part of an attacking three behind a central striker.

His versatility also makes him an attractive option to United boss Erik ten Hag, and we shouldn’t be surprised to see him deployed in a deeper midfield role or even out wide.

Since making his Premier League debut he has registered 22 assists, which puts him 27th on the list for assists in that time.

That’s a stat he will be aiming to improve, and United will be hoping they are the club who can unlock Mount’s full potential.
