Tesco Christmas and Boxing Day 2023 opening times – see when stores are open this weekend

Tesco will be closed on Christmas Day this year and will be adjusting its opening hours for the days around it – here’s everything you need to know if need to make a last-minute dash to the shop

Like other major supermarket chains, opening hours at Tesco will be adjusted over the festive season

In the week leading up to Christmas Eve, all Tesco stores will be open and trading under their normal hours. These hours can vary, however, if they are not 24 hour stores, they should open between 6am or 7am and close as late between 10pm and midnight.

Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year which means Sunday Trading hours are in place. The opening times for Tesco will be different stores. On Christmas Eve the larger Tesco stores will be opening for only six hours from either 10am until 4pm or 11am until 5pm.

However, Tesco’s smaller convenience stores will be open later on Christmas Eve with the majority of stores opening between 6am and 7am and closing at 10pm. Scottish Tesco stores will be open a littler longer on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve stores will be open from between 6am and 7am until 6pm and 7pm. All stores will be closed on Christmas Day.

Boxing Day for the Tesco superstores and Extra sites is a bit of a mixed bag across the country but most will operate under reduced hours. The larger Tesco stores will be trading from 9am until around 6pm. However Extra sites will be open for longer from 9am until 7pm. This also includes all Scottish Tesco stores. Some smaller city centre Tesco stores will stay closed on Boxing Day

All Tesco stores across the UK will be reverting back to their normal trading hours from Wednesday, December 27.

Tesco also offers same-day delivery service called Whoosh and this will be affected over the festive season. According to Tesco’s website, Whoosh will be operating as normal from Monday, December 18 until Saturday, December 23.

However, on Saturday 24 December, we will be open from 7am–7pm, and it will be closed on Christmas Day before opening again on Boxing Day from 10am until 6pm. Between Christmas and New year operating times will be 10am until 7pm.
