Telstra prepaid customers are facing difficulties recharging their services due to a “high demand”, as a huge Optus outage affects Australians across the country.
More than 10 million Optus customers have been impacted by the Optus network outage that began about 4am on Wednesday.

While the Telstra network appears to be up and running, customers on its prepaid plans are having difficulties recharging.
“We’re experiencing very high demand to recharge prepaid services right now,” a Telstra spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au.
“You can still recharge by calling #100# and following the prompts.”

The telco added it was looking to “increase capacity to manage the load”.
Over 440 Telstra customers reported issues making calls at 9.30am on Wednesday, according to DownDetector.
Meanwhile, several other providers on the Optus network such as Moose Mobile, Dodo, Coles Mobile, Aussie Broadband and Amaysim also appear to be impacted by the outage.
“We are currently experiencing issues with our upstream mobile network, hosted by Optus,” Aussie Broadband said.
“This means Aussie mobile customers may not be able to make or receive calls or SMS, or use mobile data.”
Optus has said it is aware of the issue, but has not elaborated on the reason for the sudden outage or given an indication of how long the outage may last.
