Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins was limited this past week by an ankle injury, and he missed a lot of Sunday night’s loss to the Ravens in Baltimore because of it.
The Bengals announced early in the third quarter that Higgins’ return was questionable with a left ankle injury after Higgins had been held without a catch during the first half.
“He tried to fight through that thing really the whole game,” Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said of Higgins’ injury. “Even at halftime he was talking about giving it another whirl and just didn’t feel good enough to keep going. … He wanted to keep giving it a shot. He’s a tough guy. Even situationally, wanted to be an option – if that came up. Even if he wasn’t gonna be in the core part of things. And that situation just didn’t arise.”

Receiver Mike Thomas got more playing time, and had one second-quarter reception for 33 yards during the Bengals’ scoring drive that resulted in Hayden Hurst’s 19-yard touchdown catch.
“Whenever you lose a guy like Tee – Tee’s one of the premiere receivers in the league,” Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said after the game. “So whenever you lose a guy like that, it’s gonna be tough. But I thought the guys that replaced him did a really good job.”

Former star NFL receiver Brandon Marshall said earlier this week that Higgins doesn’t get enough credit as one of the top receivers in the league.
