Swifties got an unexpected surprise on Wednesday. Taylor swift announced that the Eras Tour concert film will arrive one-day with early-access showings in the U.S. and Canada.
“PREMIERE DAY,” Swift wrote alongside a snap of her outfit for the Los Angeles film premiere. “Andddd I can’t really wrap my head around this but…. Look what you genuinely made me do: Due to unprecedented demand we’re opening up early access showings of The Eras Tour Concert Film on THURSDAY in America and Canada!! As in… TOMORROW. We’re also adding additional showtimes Friday and throughout the weekend. All tickets will be available by 10am tomorrow morning. And it’ll be showing starting Friday in 90 countries all over the world.”
She continued, “I can’t thank you enough for wanting to see this film that so vividly captures my favorite adventure I’ve ever been a part of: The Eras Tour. And the best part is, it’s an adventure we’re still on together.” She added, “Getting in the car now,” before signing off to make her way to Wednesday’s big event.
AMC Theaters previously said that the pop star’s upcoming doc smashed the theater chain’s record for single-day advance ticket sales. The day after tickets went on sale, AMC claimed The Eras Tour raked in $26 million in revenue — surpassing the chain’s previous record of $16.9 million set by Spider-Man: No Way Home in under three hours.
On Friday, the film will premiere in more than 4,000 theaters. In the lead-up to the film’s release, AMC team meetings have centered on protocols for general crowd management and have braced themselves for rowdy concert culture as eager fans gather at theaters across the country.
