Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Coming to North American Theaters

It’s anything but a cruel summer now.

Taylor Swift announced Thursday morning on her Instagram that her blockbuster Eras Tour will be coming to theaters across North America.

“The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon 😆,” she wrote. “Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now at amctheatres.com. Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged… 1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (iykyk).”

When this reporter immediately attempted to purchase tickets to “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour” a few minutes after the announcement, AMC Theatres’ website was displaying a waiting screen not dissimilar to the infamous Ticketmaster one. Happily, this queue went a lot smoother and took just a few minutes.

The movie will play at least four times a day on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, a press release from AMC notes. As is Swift’s style, the ticket prices are a fun little wink to fans: $19.89 for adult tickets and $13.13 for children. (The concert film will also be available in IMAX at AMC, Dolby Cinema at AMC, and other premium large formats for their standard up-charge fees.)

Interestingly, “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour” won’t only play in AMC locations. For the first time, AMC is acting as distributor as well. The company will be making the film available to unaffiliated theaters, in what AMC calls “the inaugural step of a new line of business for AMC Entertainment.” Cinemark in the U.S., Cineplex in Canada, and Cinepolis in Mexico have already signed on.

Directed by Sam Wrench, who is also behind “Billie Eilish: Live at the O2” and “Lizzo: Live in Concert,” the concert film has a listed run time from AMC of 2 hours and 45 minutes, a bit shorter than her standard set list this past summer (around 3 hours and 15 minutes!). Swifties’ favorite guessing game will now be which “surprise songs” from the six August L.A. dates — where cameras were spotted on stage — will make it into the show.

Writing about the concert in April, I noted, “The Eras tour has leveled up Swift’s cinema. It’s a 44-song, 10-act storytelling extravaganza that translates 17 years of lyrical confessions into a highly choreographed production that is both bombastic and expertly paced.”

It’ll be a big fall for Swift. In addition to her sure-to-be-record breaking “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour,” she’s currently still on tour in South America on the second leg of said tour, with additional dates set to run until at least November 2024. Additionally, “1989: (Taylor’s Version)” will drop Oct. 27.
