Taylor Swift releases video for her song Anti-Hero in support of new album Midnights

Taylor Swift is set to release the music video for her song Anti-Hero from her new album Midnights, which dropped early Friday.

In a teaser clip that aired earlier on Thursday Night Football, Swift previewed the album with samples of its music videos.

‘I just wanted to first of all say thank you so much to Amazon for giving me an opportunity to show you guys a first look teaser trailer of the secret projects that I’ve been working on for a really long time,’ she said. ‘Those projects are the Midnights music movies, the music videos that I’ve made for this album to sort of explore visually the world of this record.

‘And I love storytelling, I love songwriting, I love writing videos, I love directing them. And this was a really fun opportunity to work again with the cinematographer Rina Yang, who was my collaborator on the All Too Well 10-minute short film.’

Swift said she and her collaborators ‘really wanted to challenge ourselves to do different things this time around and stretch,’ adding, ‘I’m really proud of what we made and I really hope you like them. We worked with some amazing actors, which you’ll find out more about at the end of the teaser trailer.’

Notable named appearing in the clip include actress Laura Dern, Haim members Alana Haim, Danielle Haim and Este Haim, model Laith Ashley, music producer Jack Antonoff, comic Mike Birbiglia and John Early, actress Mary Elizabeth Ellis and burlesque staple Dita Von Teese.

Swift tweeted earlier Thursday, ‘Hey guys, it’s Taylor. If you tune into the Thursday Night Football game on Amazon Prime, I’m going to be showing a first look at the secret projects that I’ve been working on very hard for a very long time, getting ready for the Midnights album.’

Swift previously said that the album would feature a collaboration with Lana Del Rey titled Snow on the Beach. 

Swift earlier this week stepped up the promotional push for her tenth studio album, Midnights.

On Wednesday, the pop superstar took to social media and revealed: ‘Our last midnight before Midnights,’ along with a 1970s retro promo photo of Swift laying back on a couch in a room full of wood paneling. 

Midnights marks yet another phase in the singer-songwriter’s massive song output in recent years, where she’s released four studio albums since Lover dropped in August 2019.

‘Our last midnight before Midnights’ is a play with words on the fact this will be the last midnight before the new record is released on Friday, October 21.

Always one to want to build up drama ahead of a new project, Team Swift also teamed up with Spotify to help build up the hype by releasing snippets of lyrics from Midnights.

The 32-year-old singer has been revealing random lyrics on billboards all across the world of late, as reported by Billboard.

The first lyrics started popping up in New York City’s Times Square on Monday, October 17. At the stroke of midnight, a massive vertical sign on one end of the plaza lit up with the lyric ‘I should not be left to my own devices.’

The next space was in London, England, with just a five word excerpt from her album: ‘I polish up real nice.’

In the latest reveals, a Sao Paulo, Brazil, train station lit up at midnight local time showcasing in bright purple lettering and the lyric: ‘Just like clockwork, the dominoes cascaded in a line.’

Come midnight Thursday morning, October 20, fans may very well have another lyric billboard to pore over — but only time will tell what that location will be.

In recent weeks, the songstress took to social media to showcase the four different album covers she has printed for the vinyl editions.

Swift’s new album, Midnights, which has 13 new songs and three extra on the deluxe version, is set to drop on October 21.
