Taylor Swift Performs ‘Cardigan,’ ‘August’ & Willow’ From an Enchanted Forest at 2021 Grammy Awards

Taylor Swift brought the Grammys to Middle Earth with a very fairytale-inspired performance of “Cardigan,” “August” and “Willow.”

The medley began with a slow pan out from Taylor’s face, revealing her to be laying in a patch of particularly lush looking grass. As the song continued, Swift — dressed in a flowing, shimmering gold dress — stepped down from the roof of a set decorated to look like a tiny forest cabin set amidst an enchanted forest.

Inside the cabin, she strapped on a guitar alongside Folklore collaborators Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, who handled keyboards and guitar.

For “August” the three played inside the cabin, before emerging into the woods for “Willow,” with the forest lighting up behind them for the song’s finale.

Swift is nominated for six awards tonight in categories including song of the year (“Cardigan”), pop solo performance (“Cardigan”), pop duo/group performance (“Exile”) and pop vocal album (Folklore) If Folklore wins in this latter category, Swift will become the fourth person, and first women, to win album of the year three times.
