Taylor Swift’s tenth album, Midnights, has certainly whipped up a frenzy with fans staying up until the early hours to listen to the record.

However, fans were in shock as music streaming giant Spotify appeared to crash momentarily just as the album dropped, leaving many fans fuming.

The singer has been working under the radar for the past two years while re-recording her first six studio albums and also releasing Folklore and Evermore during the lockdown period.

Now, Taylor, 32, has returned to the music scene with 13 new tracks – delighting her millions of loyal fans.

But after tuning in to hear the release, devastated fans flocked to social media to comment on Spotify’s failure to load. One Twitter user wrote: “Spotify crashed following the release of Taylor Swift ’s new album #TSmidnighTS,” sharing screenshots of the app saying ‘something’s went wrong’.

Another had a similar message and weeped: “YALL DONE BROKE SPOTIFY . #MidnightsTaylorSwift.”

A third added: “spotify literally broke for like a minute!!! i was in panic mode,” while a fourth shared an error message and fumed: “Really @Spotify? On a night like this? I am fuming #TSmidnightTS.”

Another fan asked the star: “Can i ask you a Question…? @taylorswift13 @taylornation13 how does it feel knowing you crashed spotify?? (Midnights is a superior album already).”

Thankfully for users, the outage was short lived and they were treated to the album moments later – much to their delight.

Comments quickly turned more positive with fans having long debates among themselves about which tune is already their favourite.

Taylor first confirmed the news at the MTV Awards in August, 13 years on from her infamous incident with rapper Kanye West.

Following her announcement, the Blank Space star who boasts soon-to-be ex-Prime Minster Liz Truss as a fan dropped a series of “Easter egg” surprises for fans.

Taylor released a series of TikTok videos, called Midnights Mayhem With Me, which went on to reveal the track list for Midnights, which Taylor claims will “tell the stories of thirteen sleepless nights scattered throughout my life”.

Each track on the album has a special connection with Taylor, who co-wrote every song on the highly anticipated record.

The first track Lavender Haze was confirmed during the ninth MMWM and she later shared the idea behind the track was from the TV series Mad Men and her relationship with Joe Alwyn.

Maroon, the second song was co-written by Taylor and her pal Jack Antonoff who she has continued to work with throughout her 16-year-long career.

Meanwhile, she has previously explained that Anti Hero is “one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written,” before explaining that she hadn’t delved so deeply into her insecurities before this song.

On the album, Taylor recorded Snow On The Beach with Lana Del Rey but she admits she can’t stop smiling when thinking about the track.

Discussing the inspiration, she said it’s about “falling in love with someone at the same time as they’re falling in love with you.”

Elsewhere, You’re On Your Own, Kid, was co-written by Taylor and Jack and was announced during the tenth MMWM episode.

Midnight Rain is the sixth song on Midnights and was announced during episode four of MMWM and is just two minutes and 54 seconds long.

Track number seven, Question…?, written by Taylor and Jack was announced during the third episode of MMWM.

In an unexpected move, Taylor’s eighth song on the record Vigilante Sh*t is the first song title she has used with a swear word in.

Bejewelled is the ninth song on Midnights and the title was announced during the seventh episode. However, her tenth track, Labyrinth was “worth the wait,” she said.

Referencing her famous run-in with Kanye West, Karma is believed to be about the Video Music Awards incident where West stormed the stage and humiliated Taylor.

Sweet Nothing, the 12th song on the album was written by Taylor and her boyfriend Joe Alwyn, who used the pseudonym William Bowery.

Finally, Mastermind is the closing song and was written by Taylor and Jack.
