Nov 26 (Reuters) – Irish boxer Katie Taylor said she is open to a deciding trilogy bout with Chantelle Cameron after beating the Briton in a thrilling fight to become a two-weight undisputed world champion at the Three Arena in Dublin.

The 37-year-old avenged her first professional defeat to Cameron in May at the same venue on Saturday after the majority decision win on the judges’ scorecards moved Taylor, one of the most influential figures in women’s boxing, to 23-1 as a professional, while her opponent dropped to 18-1.

Taylor was fighting for the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC and WBO World Super Lightweight titles.

“Tonight you saw the real me. When I box no one can beat me,” Taylor said in the ring after the fight. “Let’s get the trilogy at Croke Park!”

“It was a remarkable performance, in terms of how she rallied from defeat in her last fight.

“You learn the most from your failures and your losses. You’re only a failure if you give up. Go and go again. Never give up.”

Taylor joined American Claressa Shields as the only female boxer with undisputed titles in two-weight classes.

“Two-weight undisputed champion, that sounds very nice,” Taylor said.

“That was the longest six months of my life waiting for this rematch.

“This was my real homecoming tonight. Whoever wrote me off, you don’t know me very well. Don’t ever doubt me.”
