Chelsea taking on Southampton

Chelsea are currently locked in Premier League action with Southampton in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off.

The Londoners headed into the tie at St Mary’s no doubt viewed as favourites to come away with all three points.

Before Saturday, Chelsea had notched four wins and a draw in Thomas Tuchel’s first five league games as Chelsea manager.

They had also conceded just a solitary goal in said games, which was actually scored by Antonio Rudiger.

As for Ralph Hasenhuttl and co., they had fallen to defeat in their last five league outings before the weekend.

So, a win for the Blues was of course widely predicted. However, it would be Southampton who actually took the lead in the game in the first 45.

Takumi Minamino ran through the center of Chelsea’s backline before sitting down Edouard Mendy and Cesar Azpilicueta to fire Southampton into the lead:

Chelsea have since drawn level from the penalty spot after Danny Ings was adjudged to have fouled Mason Mount.

Tammy Abraham injured?

Chelsea’s first-half display, though, was far from positive. They dominated possession but created virtually nothing.

So, when Tuchel brought on Callum Hudson-Odoi for Tammy Abraham at the break, many probably presumed it was a tactical switch.

However, the forward has since been pictured sat with ice on his leg:

Abraham was forced off in Chelsea’s win over Newcastle on Monday, and Chelsea fans will likely be hoping that said injury has not returned this weekend as well, especially with a crucial clash against Atletico Madrid taking place on Tuesday.
