Susanna Reid skewers Boris Johnson on GMB and viewers are all saying the same thing

Susanna Reid grilled Prime Minister Boris Johnson this morning (May 3) for the first time since he and other government ministers were accused of boycotting the series during the coronavirus pandemic. Appearing on the ITV’s GMB for the first time in five years, he was probed on the war in Ukraine, the cost of living crisis and the fines he and others in Parliament received for breaking lockdown rules.

And viewers have praised Susanna for her savage opening question to the PM by asking: “Are you honest?” Johnson replied: “Yes. I think the best way to judge that is to look at what this Government says it’s going to do and what it does.”

He added: “I do my best to represent faithfully and accurately what I believe, and sometimes it’s controversial and sometimes it offends people, but that’s what I do.”

In response to a suggestion that some people believe he is a liar, Mr Johnson said: “If you are talking about the statements I’ve made in the House of Commons, I was inadvertently… I was wrong and I’ve apologised for that.”

The opening gambit and Johnson’s response received a lot of attention on Twitter, with former GMB host Piers Morgan, who was on air during the awkward moment the PM appeared to hide from the cameras back in 2019, reacting to the interview.

Thousands of people have commented on the brilliant job that Susanna Reid did in pursuing a hard line of questioning of the Prime Minister.
