Second Quarter Score: San Francisco 10, Kansas City 3

The San Francisco 49ers controlled the first half of Super Bowl 58.

San Francisco opened up a 10-point advantage on the Kansas City Chiefs in the second quarter before the reigning NFL champion got on the board right before halftime.

49ers kicker Jake Moody produced the first points of the championship contest with a 55-yard field goal, the longest field goal in Super Bowl history.

The NFC champion added to its advantage with a trick play for a touchdown.

Jauan Jennings floated a pass from left to right to find Christian McCaffrey for the first touchdown of Super Bowl 58.

McCaffrey made a strong case for Super Bowl Most Valuable Player in the first half with 47 receiving yards, 33 rushing yards and the touchdown.

Kansas City answered McCaffrey’s score with its only successful drive of the first half.

Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs 65 yards on 13 plays, but the drive stalled out with a field-goal attempt from Harrison Butker.

Butker converted on the 28-yard field goal to move the Chiefs within one possession before halftime.

Kansas City gets the ball to start the second half. The Chiefs won their two Super Bowl titles in the Mahomes era after facing a 10-point deficit, including Super Bowl 54 against the 49ers.
