Strong cold front headed for Dallas-Fort Worth to drop temperatures into the 40s

A winterlike chill is in the forecast for Dallas-Fort Worth this week.
A strong cold front is expected to move through North Texas late Sunday into early Monday, bringing chilly conditions, KXAS-TV (NBC5) meteorologist Wes Houx said.
The front is expected to drop temperatures into the 40s by Monday, he said. Tuesday’s high isn’t expected to get out of the 40s.
“Seven-six is where we’d typically be for this time of the year,” Houx said. “We’re not going to be close to that the next several days.”
The cold front will sweep in with some brisk wind that will make it feel even colder Monday through Wednesday, said Matt Stalley, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
“Wind chill values in North Texas will be in the 20s and 30s during this time period, so it’s finally time to dig out the warmer clothing from the back of the closet,” he said.
North Texas will face a chance of rain Monday through Wednesday, and areas northwest, such as Lubbock, could see a wintry mix Monday, according to the weather service.
Although wind chills may drop into the 30s this week, North Texas won’t have to worry about wintry precipitation, said Patricia Sanchez, a weather service meteorologist.
“Things are expected to be more straightforward [here] as we won’t have to deal with freezing temps,” she said.
By Thursday, any rain is expected to clear out of the area, and temperatures are expected to rebound, with a high of 60 by Friday.
Here’s what KXAS-TV (NBC5) has in the forecast:
Monday: 60/48; rain
Tuesday: 47/42; showers
Wednesday: 51/41; showers
Thursday: 57/40
