Strictly star Les Dennis thanks late Jake Abraham ‘for the laughs’ after actor’s death aged 56

Strictly Come Dancing star Les Dennis paid tribute to the late Jake Abraham on social media and penned a message of praise to the Spike Island actor. 

The 69-year-old TV presenter took to Twitter – now known as X – to share some fond words with his follows about Abraham.

Re-posting a tweet that explained how the star had died, he added his own caption that detailed the Family Fortunes host’s relationship with the actor. 

He wrote above the tweet: ‘Did a play at the @RoyalCourtLiv with Jake. Loved him,both as an actor and a man. Will miss you Jake. Thanks for the laughs. RIP.’ 

Fans rushed to the comments to leave their own messages of heartbreak at learning of the loss. 

One said: ‘Fantastic actor. Condolences to those that knew him’, while another user noted: ‘Ahh no! How terrible. Love and condolences to his family’.

The Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star died aged 56, after battling prostate cancer that had spread to the rest of his body. 

Opening up about his diagnosis months before his death, he revealed that he had ‘left it too late’ and tumours had since grown on his hips, bladder and spine. 

Plenty of other tributes flooded social media as stars learned of the sad news and mourned the passing of a collegue and friend. 

Actor and filmmaker David Morrissey wrote: ‘RIP Jake Abraham. Top bloke and wonderful performer. Gone way too soon.’

Actress Tina Malone described Jake as her theatre husband and added: ‘I am heartbroken my screen and theatre husband, my mate of 50 years has passed.

‘Talented, funny, kind, a true Liverpool legend RIP my darling.’

Stuart Anthony said: ‘Very sorry to hear Jake Abraham has sadly passed away aged 56. Lovely man x.’

Elsewhere radio personality Pete Price, said: ‘Another wonderful, kind, talented friend has passed away. Jake is going to be so missed. I always loved his performances.’

Abraham opened up to Liverpool Echo before his death and said: ‘I was working but I wasn’t feeling well. 

‘I was pushing through those spells when you don’t feel yourself, you haven’t got the energy and there are aches and pains.

‘The costume for the play was enormous, I knew I wasn’t well then but I’d not been well for so long.

‘What made me go to the doctor and get a PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test was that I passed blood in my urine.’

He was most recently performing in the pantomime The Scouse Jack and the Beanstalk.
