Washington scored two runs against Jorge López (1-5) in the fifth. López allowed four straight hits, including back-to-back doubles by Josh Bell (3 hits) and Kyle Schwarber and a run-scoring single by Josh Harrison.

Freddy Galvis hit a two-run home run with two outs in the ninth against Brad Hand. Trey Mancini had two hits for the Orioles, who have lost 11 of 13 since John Means threw a no-hitter on May 5.
SAN FRANCISCO — Trevor Bauer struck out 11 in his first career start against San Francisco, Chris Taylor hit a two-run homer and Los Angeles extended its winning streak to five.
With the Dodgers down to only four available relievers, Bauer (5-2) held the Giants to two hits over 6 1/3 innings and threw a season-high 126 pitches. With Kenley Jansen unavailable, Blake Treinen handled the ninth for Los Angeles and got his second save.
Coming off an 8-1 homestand, Los Angeles pulled within one game of first-place San Francisco.

A day after scoring 19 runs at Cincinnati, the Giants went 0 for 4 with runners in scoring position and had their five-game winning streak stopped.
NEW YORK — Gleyber Torres homered and singled home the winning run in the ninth inning as New York — moments after a turning a clutch triple play — beat Chicago.
Chicago put two runners on to open the ninth against closer Aroldis Chapman (3-0). Rookie Andrew Vaughn hit a sharp grounder toward third, where Gio Urshela stepped on the bag and went around the horn to nip Vaughn and suddenly end the inning as first baseman Luke Voit make a long stretch.
Aaron Judge singled leading off the bottom half of the ninth against Evan Marshall (0-2). He went to second on Urshela’s single and slid safely across the plate after Torres ripped a sharp single for his fifth career walkoff hit.

Torres homered off Michael Kopech to the short right-field porch in the seventh. Chicago tied it on Nick Madrigal’s check-swing RBI single in the eighth off Jonathan Loaisiga.
SAN DIEGO — Fernando Tatis Jr. became the fastest shortstop in history to hit 50 home runs and made another spectacular defensive play for San Diego, which routed Seattle for its seventh straight win.
Jake Cronenworth homered, doubled and drove in five runs, and Chris Paddack (2-3) threw six strong innings for the Padres, who have won 10 of 11 overall. Paddack and two relievers combined on a four-hitter against the Mariners.
Tatis, playing in his 171st career game, tied Ryan Braun for the fifth-fastest player overall to reach 50 homers. Tatis finished with four RBIs. He also made a spectacular play in the fifth when he avoided a collision with Jorge Mateo in shallow center to catch Jarred Kelenic’s popup and then doubled Eric Campbell off first to end the inning.

Seattle lost its fourth straight game.
Trent Grisham hit his fourth leadoff homer and fifth overall for the Padres, who scored four runs in each of the first two innings off Chris Flexen (4-2). Eric Hosmer added a two-run single and Tommy Pham an RBI hit in the first.
Tommy Pham had an RBI triple with two outs in the second to chase Flexen. The right-hander allowed eight runs and 10 hits in 1 2/3 innings.
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Ramón Laureano homered among his four hits and made a leaping catch above the center-field wall, Chad Pinder hit a go-ahead drive in the seventh inning and Oakland beat Los Angeles.
Laureano hit a solo homer in the ninth for insurance and the third four-hit game of his career.

Pinder, who had three hits, drove a fastball from Mike Mayers (1-3) into right-center. Mark Canha and Jed Lowrie also went deep for the Athletics. Yusmeiro Petit (6-0), the second of four Oakland pitchers, allowed two runs in one inning but got the win.
Jared Walsh and José Iglesias homered and Juan Lagares had a two-run triple for the Angels, who have dropped four of five since superstar outfielder Mike Trout went on the injured list with a calf injury.
CLEVELAND — Max Kepler and rookie Alex Kirilloff drove in two runs apiece in Minnesota’s nine-run fourth inning and the Twins shook off a couple long days of cross-country travel by pounding Cleveland.

The Twins didn’t arrive in Cleveland until 4:30 a.m. after flying back from California following a doubleheader in Anaheim on Thursday.
Randy Dobnak (1-3) was the beneficiary of the Twins’ biggest inning this season and won his first start after being recalled from Triple-A St. Paul. Dobnak allowed just three hits in six innings.
Rob Refsnyder homered for Minnesota’s first run.
Triston McKenzie (1-3) helped the weary Twins with four walks in the fourth before he was pulled. Reliever Phil Maton wasn’t much better as Kepler hit a two-run double and Kirilloff singled home a pair as Minnesota opened a 10-run lead.
PHILADELPHIA — Rafael Devers and Danny Santana hit homers to back Martin Perez, and Boston beat Philadelphia.

Perez (2-2) allowed three runs and five hits, striking out seven in six innings.
The AL East-leading Red Sox have won three in a row. The Phillies lost for the sixth time in eight games to fall one game under .500.
Phillies starter Aaron Nola (3-4) gave up five runs — four earned — and seven hits, striking out nine in five innings.
Hunter Renfroe had an RBI single in the sixth, expanding Boston’s lead to 6-2. Devers hit a two-run shot off Brogdon in the seventh for his 12th homer of the season.
Philadelphia’s Jean Segura crushed a two-run homer in the third.
ATLANTA — Ronald Acuña Jr. hit a grand slam in the second inning off Tyler Anderson, pinch-hitter Ehire Adrianza added another slam in the eighth against position player Wilmer Difo and Atlanta homered seven times in a rout of Pittsburgh.

Austin Riley homered twice for his first multihomer game, and Ozzie Albies, Marcell Ozuna and Dansby Swanson also went deep for the Braves, who became the first team in major league history to have seven or more homers in a game that included two slams, according to STATS.
Acuña had five RBIs and his 14th homer tied the Los Angeles Angels’ Shohei Ohtani for the major league lead.
Ian Anderson (4-1) gave up six hits in six scoreless innings with six strikeouts and no walks as the Braves won for the seventh time in his last eight starts.
Tyler Anderson (3-4) gave up nine runs, 10 hits — seven for extra bases — and two walks in five innings.
CINCINNATI — Jesse Winker hit three solo home runs while going 4 for 4, leading Cincinnati over Milwaukee.
Tyler Naquin added a three-run homer. He got things started with his 10th homer, a drive in the first inning off Adrian Houser (3-5).
Winker connected for leadoff homers in the third and fifth off Houser. He hit his 11th homer of the season in the eighth, another leadoff drive against Josh Lindblom. It was Winker’s first three-homer game; he also singled and walked. He has four multihomer games in his career, two this year.
Reds starter Jeff Hoffman (3-3) battled through five innings. He worked around four walks and a bases-loaded jam in the second but allowed just one run and two hits.
ROCKIES 7, DIAMONDBACKS 1
DENVER — German Marquez scattered four hits over seven scoreless innings, Ryan McMahon homered twice and drove in three runs, and Colorado beat Arizona to snap a five-game losing streak.
Raimel Tapia also homered and C.J. Cron had two hits and two RBIs for the Rockies. Marquez (3-4) struck out eight and walked three in putting together consecutive wins for the first time this season after losing three in a row.
Josh Rojas’ sacrifice fly in the eighth inning off reliever Jordan Sheffield led to Arizona’s lone run.
Seth Frankhoff (0-1) went four innings and allowed five run on seven hits.
ST. LOUIS — Joc Pederson homered on the first pitch of the game, Ian Happ got two hits during an eight-run burst in the eighth inning and Chicago halted St. Louis’ five-game home winning streak.
Kyle Hendricks (4-4) pitched into the seventh inning as the Cubs won in the first of 19 games between the NL Central rivals this season.
Nico Hoerner had two hits and scored three times for Chicago. Pederson, who hit his 22nd career leadoff homer, Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and David Bote each drove in two runs.
Hendricks (4-4) allowed one earned run and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. Reliever Ryan Helsley (3-2) took the loss.
METS 6, MARLINS 5, 12 INNINGS
MIAMI — Rookie Khalil Lee hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the 12th inning for his first major league hit after strikeouts in his first eight at-bats — a major league record — and New York beat Miami, despite totaling only eight hits against 10 Marlins pitchers.
Jake Hager’s leadoff single in the Mets 12th off Adam Cimber (0-1) advanced the automatic runner to third. After Lee’s hit, Johneshwy Fargas hit a two-run triple but was thrown out trying to stretch his hit into an inside-the-park homer.
Miami’s Garrett Cooper tied the game with a two-run homer in the seventh, his fourth.
Drew Smith (1-0) stranded a runner at third in the 11th. Jacob Barnes got the game’s final out for his first save since 2018.
Francisco Lindor and Tomás Nido contributed RBI doubles for the Mets.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Miguel Cabrera hit a solo homer and a grand slam, doubling his season total to four home runs and leading Detroit over Kansas City.
The 38-year-old homered in the second off Mike Minor for the game’s first run, then overcame a 5-3 deficit in the seventh against Greg Holland with his sixth slam, the 491th home run of his big league career.
José Ureña (2-4) allowed five runs and 10 hits in six innings. Tyler Zuber (0-1) took the loss.
Bryan Garcia, José Cisnero and Michael Fulmer combined for three hitless innings of relief, with Fulmer getting three straight outs for his fourth save in four chances.
RAYS 9, BLUE JAYS 7, 12 INNINGS
DUNEDIN, Fla. — Francisco Mejía hit a grand slam in the 12th inning and Tampa Bay won its eighth consecutive game by beating Toronto.
After Jeremy Beasley (0-1) intentionally walked Joey Wendle to load the bases, Mejía drove the next pitch over the right-field wall.
Diego Castillo (1-2), who worked 1 1/3 innings, allowed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. second homer of the game, a two-run shot in the 12th.
Brandon Lowe homered twice, and Ji-Man Choi had a pinch-hit homer for the Rays.
Anthony Kay allowed two runs, four hits, four walks and struck out over four innings. He was pulled after throwing 91 pitches.
RANGERS 7, ASTROS 5, 10 INNINGS.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Adolis García hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving Texas a victory over Houston after Astros starter Tyler Ivey was spared a loss in his major league debut against his hometown team.
García’s opposite-field shot to right came with two outs after the Astros had rallied with a three-run eighth and gone ahead in the top of the 10th on Texas third baseman Brock Holt’s second error of the game.
It was the Rangers’ second win in 11 games.
Left-hander Taylor Hearn (2-1) earned the win. Bryan Abreu (2-3), who was an out away from his first career save, took the loss.
Kyle Gibson ended up with his fourth consecutive no-decision, giving up one run in six innings to tie the Texas franchise record with his ninth consecutive start of at least six innings with three or fewer runs allowed.
