Joseph Quinn has nailed his performance as Eddie, the boss of Hawkins High School Dungeons and Dragons Hellfire Club, since joining the cast of the popular Netflix series for its fourth season.

However, while his performance as senior high school student Eddie might have led viewers to think he is American, Joseph Quinn is actually British.

Like cast members including Jamie Campbell Bower and Millie Bobbie Brown, Joseph is another actor to call the UK home, and attended the prestigious London Academy of Music And Dramatic Art (LAMDA), before graduating in 2015.

Although Joseph was born in London, his mum hails from Liverpool, and the actor nailed the scouse accent when he told the story of the moment he got the part – paying a sweet tribute to his mum in the process.

Speaking at the New York premiere of Stranger Things 4, he said his Liverpudlian mum didn’t know what Stranger Things was, before impersonating her to a tee, in a clip that delighted fans.

One viewer said: “”Absolutely loving seeing Joseph Quinn going global, extraordinary actor and lovely with it (and part Scouse!)”

A second added: “Joseph Quinn have Scouse roots, we love to see it,” while a third said: “EDDIE MUNSON IS SCOUSE”.

Although Joseph has risen to global fame as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, the actor has also appeared in other hit fantasy series including Game Of Thrones.

In series seven of the hit fantasy adaptation, he played a Stark soldier named Koner in the episode, The Spoils Of The War – guarding the Winterfell gate when Arya returned home.

Having acted since he was a child onstage, he landed roles in TV series including Dickensian as Arthur Havisham and Prince Paul in Catherine The Great.

He has also appeared in stage productions, including Mosquitos at the National Theatre with Dames Helen Mirran and Olivia Coleman, which he described to The Guardian as a “pinch me moment.”

“She’s a force of nature. Phenomenal.

“And Helen Mirren was… well, she’s Helen f*****g Mirren. She was very kind, had great advice and a filthy sense of humour, which is always great fun.”

Looking to the future, Joseph also revealed to Glass Magazine that if he could appear in any remake of an classic film or TV programme, he would like to play all the characters in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

Until then however, the actor can next be seen in the film Hoard.

Like many of his fellow Stranger Things stars, Joseph tends to keep his personal life away from the public eye, and it is not known if the star is single or in a relationship.

It was also reported by Marie Claire that in a 2017 interview with Nuit Magazine, the star revealed he does not use social media a lot.

Joseph explained that he closed his Facebook, but that he did use Twitter, saying: “I don’t have Facebook, I used to but I just spent all my time looking at other people’s lives.”

He also added: “I do have Twitter, I wouldn’t say I use it in a professional capacity—selling myself online. It’s a useful tool for news and seeing what other people are up to.”

However, Stranger Things fans will have noticed that Joseph recently opened an Instagram account, with his first post featuring artwork of his character Eddie, captioned: “Hello Strangers.”

Eddie Munson is known for his love of heavy metal and talents for shredding a chord or two on his guitar in Stranger Things – but did you know that one of the patches on the jacket Joseph wore, was donated by the estate of a huge rockstar?

The costume designer behind Eddie’s outfit revealed in an interview on the Netflix website that an authentic Dio patch had been donated by the estate of late rockstar Ronnie James Dio.

Amy Parris said: “He’s a fan of wizard metal, he’s a fan of Dio. He’s a fan of Metallica. Actually, Dio was a popular band in the ‘80s, and we reached out to the estate [of the late Ronnie James Dio to source a band shirt].

“His wife is in charge of his estate and offered to send us vintage T-shirts, which was such a dream.”

To get him into character, Joseph also told The Hollywood Reporter that he blasted out a lot of Metallica and Black Sabbath, particularly the album Masters Of Reality.

That’s not all, as the actor revealed he also had a say in how his character would appear on screen, collaborating with the costume and hair departments to get Eddie’s look.

Speaking about his Hellfire Club t-shirt, which many fans have since purchased replicas of, Joseph joked that he has a “car full.”

He also spoke about his iconic hairstyle, adding: “It’s a beast of a wig! I didn’t grow it out, that would have taken me half a decade.”

That’s not all, as he praised the writers and directors for allowing him to bring some of his own ideas to Eddie, saying: “they were very encouraging for me to improvise,” adding: “I think the writers and directors — he is their creation, and I was just lucky enough to kind of help them.”
