Still Crazy After All These Years: Paul Simon Arrested on Disorderly Conduct Charges

Legendary singer Paul Simon, 72, was arrested on Saturday night charged, along with his wife, Edie Brickell, 48, with disorderly conduct, after a fight, reports the New Canaan Advertiser.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. Cops Were Called to their Home on Saturday Night
Police were called to the couple’s home at around 8 p.m. on April 25. The cops were responding to a “family dispute.” A cop in New Canaan told the paper:
[It was] your typical dispute. Some yelling and screaming and pushing. If it wasn’t the name, it wouldn’t be this kind of deal.
Neither Simon or Brickell were taken into custody after the dispute.
2. Simon & Brickell Have Appeared in Court
Both faced Norwalk Superior Court on April 27. Since neither person was taken into police custody there were no mugshots. The pair faced misdemeanor summonses.
It’s unclear what sparked the fight. According to the New Canaan Advertiser, cops were responding to a hangup 911 call.
3. There Were Minor Injuries During the Incident
New Canaan Police held a press conference regarding the incident on April 27 with Police Chief Leon Krolikowski calling it “minor in nature.” He added that there were injuries as a result, but didn’t elaborate.
4. Simon Didn’t Return Home After the Incident
According to the New Canaan News, after speaking with police, Simon agreed to spend the night at his New York City house.
5. She Is Simon’s Third Wife
Brickell is Simon’s third wife, one of the singer’s previous marriages was to Star Wars star Carrie Fisher. Simon and Brickell have lived in New Canaan for over 20 years. The couple have three children together. It isn’t known if the kids were in the house at the time of the incident. The couple bought their home for $16.5 million in 2002.
