Kerr: Lakers were rewarded on flops in Game 4 vs. Warriors originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Steve Kerr is taking issue with how the fourth quarter of Game 4 played out for the Warriors.
Speaking with reporters after Golden State’s 104-101 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday at Crypto.com Arena, Kerr explained that some calls against the Warriors were a result of the Lakers embellishing contact.
“I think we had three or four illegal screens called, and that was disappointing,” Kerr said after the loss. “I didn’t get a look at the replay on any of them. But there were a couple that were very disappointing just live.
“The Lakers — they’re a team that plays with a lot of gamesmanship. They understand how to generate some calls.”
Kerr believes that some of the contact was too minimal to be called a foul but will look back at the film before coming to a proper conclusion.
“I thought they took some flops and were rewarded, but I’ll have to see the replays,” Kerr continued. “Maybe I’m wrong, maybe those were all illegal screens but didn’t feel like it watching it.”
Despite Kerr and Steph Curry’s confidence that Golden State would bounce back in Game 4, not even Curry’s “Herculean” triple-double effort was enough to even up the series as now, the Warriors return to the Bay Area down 3-1 in the Western Conference semifinals.

If a triple-double from Curry and Gary Payton II being inserted into the starting lineup wasn’t enough for Golden State to pull out the victory, Kerr will have to dig deep to see what might work in Game 5 on Wednesday.
Until then, Kerr and the rest of the Warriors will have some time to mull over their missed opportunities in Game 4.
