Dread Central’s own Drew Tinnin said Evil Dead Rise was a “glorious mashup of gore and gags Evil Dead fans have come to know and love.” If Drew’s endorsement isn’t enough for you (though it should be), everyone’s favorite horror author Stephen King has taken to Twitter to recommend Lee Cronin’s franchise reboot. See what King had to say below:

Stephen King, naturally, is a huge fan of elevators vomiting blood. Fans of the franchise might remember that King was an influential factor in helping get the first The Evil Dead off the ground. Raimi himself has credited King’s 1982 piece in Twilight Zone Magazine as the impetus for The Evil Dead’s future sales. New Line Cinema would later acquire Raimi’s debut and, well, the rest is history.

Now, 41 years later, Stephen King is singing the praises of the latest release in the franchise. Not that audiences need much convincing to go see Evil Dead Rise. Presently, the latest installment in the long-running franchise is tracking for an opening weekend of anywhere from $15 million to $25 million. The entry is also seeing some of the best reviews of the entire franchise. As of this writing, Evil Dead Rise is sitting at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, a rarity for the horror genre, with a. critical consensus that reads, “Offering just about everything longtime fans could hope for while still managing to carry the franchise forward, Evil Dead Rise is all kinds of groovy.”

This looks to be another winner in the franchise as it continues its steady chokehold on the horror genre. Just last year, the asymmetrical Evil Dead: The Game was released for major consoles to great success. Evil Dead is everywhere. What a time to be alive.

What do you think of Stephen King’s recommendation? Do you plan on checking out Evil Dead Rise this weekend? What about The Night Agent, King’s most recent Netflix suggestion? Let me know on Twitter @ChadisCollins.
