Steph Curry’s best postseason game ever? Klay Thompson thinks so after Warriors’ Game 4 win over Celtics

BOSTON — Klay Thompson has been on the floor alongside Steph Curry for most of his 131 career playoffs games for the Warriors. He’s as qualified as anyone to judge where Curry’s performance in Golden State’s 107-97 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the NBA Finals ranked among his greatest postseason efforts.

“I think probably No. 1. I mean, this was nearly a must-win game, and to go out there and shoot as efficiently as he did, and grab 10 rebounds and they were attacking him on defense; I mean, his conditioning is second-to-none in this league,” Thompson said. “Steph played incredible.”

  • Curry was always expected to play despite coming up hobbling in Game 3 after players landed on his foot chasing a loose ball. But what percentage would be play at was in question. He missed his first three field-goal attempts, but shot 14-for-23 the rest of the way. Curry had 43 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. It was his seventh career 40-point game in the playoffs and the most he’s ever had in a postseason win. Given that it came when Golden State was trying to avoid falling behind 3-1 in a series, that’s hard to argue with.

“He put us on his back. Willed us to win. Much-needed win,” Draymond Green said. “Game we had to have. Came out and showed why he’s one of the best players to ever play this game, you know, and why, you know, this organization has been able to ride him to so much success. It’s absolutely incredible.”

Jordan Poole hasn’t been on the floor for nearly as many games with Curry, as Thompson or Green, but wasn’t surprised as his performance.

“He’s a spectacular player and he does amazing stuff all the time,” Poole said.
