The only player who will break Steph Curry’s records is Steph Curry and the Warriors’ superstar is on pace to break his true shooting record from 2018.

After scoring 50 points on 17-of-28 shooting from the field and 7-of-11 from 3-point range in the Warriors’ 130-119 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday at Footprint Center, Curry raised his true shooting percentage to 70.1 percent this season, almost four points higher than the NBA record (in a season averaging 20 or more points-per-game) of 67.5 percent he set back in 2018.

True shooting percentage is a shooting percentage adjusted for 3-pointers and free throws and measures a player’s efficiency at shooting the ball.

For context, an elite true shooting percentage generally is anything over 60 percent. Steph beat that by seven-and-a-half points in 2018 and is on pace for an even better mark this season.

Not only has Curry averaged an elite true shooting percentage (62.6 percent) in his 14-year NBA career, but he has exceeded 60 percent in 10 of those seasons.

If there’s a record Curry hasn’t beaten, chances are he is coming for it. If there is a record Curry already holds, chances are he’ll look to improve upon it.

No record is safe.
